Untreatable

I’m excited to announce that Untreatable is almost ready for you all! The cover reveal will be on April 17th, hosted by Girls Heart Books Tours. There will also be a Release Day Blitz with a tentative date of May 15th. For blogs there will be a review opportunity. If you’re a blogger and would like to sign up, here are the links! I’m also sharing the synopsis with you all. I can’t wait for you all to read it!

Synopsis: People are dying...

Tahlia and Quentin live in a world where the US population is starving to death one hundred years after a government-mandated "cure" for obesity. Tahlia's ancestors escaped genetic mutation. Now she and her tribe must hide in the wilds of South Dakota to avoid being harvested for their untainted DNA. When Tahlia is captured on a supply run, she becomes a lab rat for the scientists searching for an antidote. The fate of humanity lies buried in Tahlia's genetic code, and her own survival lies in the hands of Quentin–the only son of the very doctors who want to cut her open.

Harrowing and suspenseful, Untreatable transports readers to a dystopian future where everything is not as it seems and resilience of body–and spirit–is required to survive.

NaNoWriMo

I'm excited to be participating in NaNoWriMo again, but I have better plans than last year. Last year I did not finish my NaNo Novel by the end of November. It wasn't completed and ready for editing/formatting until August 2014. I was very disappointed that I had given up so easily. I wasn't inspired to finish it until after the Louisville Authors Event that happened April 5th, 2014. It was there that I met such an amazing group of authors.

On top of that I had a very dear author friend that had pushed me to complete it. Two actually. J.D. Rivera and Victoria Escobar gave me the push I needed to complete it and get it published. I don't think I would have had they not encouraged me. Once I got back into the swing of things, my husband was constantly on my case. Why aren't you writing? How much have you written? Are you almost done? It was a constant thing with him.

This year I am on track to actually finish. My WIP for NaNo is called Untreatable. It will be a YA Dystopian. I am so excited about this! YA Dystopian is my favorite genre. Yes! I'm one of those girls! The one that's read all of the Hunger Game books, Divergent, Maze Runner, The Selection, Matched, Delirium. Wow! You name it and I've read it or I want to read it!

I'm hoping that this WIP will be something that everyone will be anticipating to read. I haven't written a synopsis yet. I'm kind of scared to, but I have over thirteen thousand words so far. NaNoWriMo only requires fifty thousand to win NaNo. My plan is to try and do seventy plus on this novel. I can do it!

Persuading Tomorrow is LIVE!

So I patiently (not so patiently) uploaded my manuscript to Amazon last night. I painstakingly filled in all of the info that was needed. I felt like I was trying to pull stubborn teeth. It was definitely a learning experience and I want to thank my Sprint or Die group for helping a girl out!

Persuading Tomorrow is now LIVE on Amazon! I'm still waiting for Barnes and Nobles to figure out what they're doing, but for now Kindle users can purchase it here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NBEX8FG/

Author Events

You should check out my events tab! I've added the events that I'll be at as an assistant, attendee, and a signing author. I can't wait to meet you all and to finally get this book done. It's been a lot of trial and error this past month. I've been beta reading for some friends of mine and I am done with that. I've also been doing a lot of overtime at work and event planning for LAE2015. So my time seems to be sucked up pretty quickly once I get home from work.

Now that I'm done with the beta reading I will be forging ahead in my writing adventure. My husband has been a big supporter of me writing. H

My Work In Progress

I've been working hard on Persuading Tomorrow. I'm over 33K into it and working diligently. My husband has been a slave driver telling me that I WILL get this book done before the end of summer. My goal is at least 60K words. Think I can do it?

I work a full time job, I have two kids, and four dogs (two of the dogs are my mother-in-law's). I also run a blog and I'm currently planning the Louisville Authors Event 2015. So I have my work cut out for me. It's going to be a busy, busy summer!

    About Me

    J. Laslie lives in Louisville, KY with her wonderful husband, two kids, four dogs, six cats, and mother-in-law. She has always been an avid reader and now has taken the leap of faith needed to start writing her own novels.

In her spare time she loves to do digital scrapbooking, hanging out with friends, going to the gun range, or reading a good book. Her favorite genres to read are Young Adult and Young Adult Dystopian. Though she loves a good romance novel too.
